Eligibility
- Rebate of 50% of the previous year's municipal residential property taxes, to a maximum of $800 (minimum $15), for homeowners who receive or are eligible for the federal GIS or Allowance, are 65+, owned and occupied the property as their principal residence, and paid 2025 taxes in full.
How to apply
- Applications run July 1 – December 31 each year (2026 deadline: December 31, 2026); previous recipients are mailed forms; forms also at Access Nova Scotia centres and MLA offices
- The combined program budget for 2026 is $11.97 million (up from $10.4M in 2025)
- The same application form can be used to apply to the 2026-27 Heating Assistance Rebate Program.
